Introducing Charleston Wedding Planner: Erica Peper with Peper Events
I am so excited to introduce you to Erica Peper owner and creative behind Peper Events. I had been following her beautiful work on Instagram for months before she and I first sat down to coffee. We hit it off immediately and sat chatting and giggling until time had expired long ago on my meter. Luckily I did not get a ticket. It was a moment that allowed me to see the personal and loving relationship that she builds with her couples and what draw them to her.
Erica moved to Charleston 7 years ago and immediately got into event planning even though her degree was in English. Does anybody do what they got their degree in? (not me either) She began working for a prestigious golf course and was quickly put in charge of their event planning because of her organization and attention to detail AND ability to build great relationships.
Erica specializes in day of coorindation and partial planning. She believes in assisting your creative vision come to life. Her favorite thing about working with her couples is taking something that has been stressing them and removing that stress by expertly choreographing whatever needs to be adjusted.
I was able to come over to Erica's house on an evening when she was preparing for a dinner party with some of her closest friends. Her home is beautiful and just as welcoming as her personality.
I asked Erica (because it fascinates me to know people's motivation) what is her favorite thing about weddings? My favorite weddings are the ones where I cry during the speeches. It sounds weird, but it's true! Even though I haven't known these people for their whole lives, we do create a really strong connection during the months we spend together planning their wedding, and sometimes I get so overwhelmed with joy for them on their wedding day that I cry during their toasts as if they are family.
On a personal level, if you want to find Erica on her down time, she's probably at a hole in the wall location...especially around her home of Avondale. She also loves to travel with her adorable hubby and snuggle with her cat.
Erica's final piece of advice to couples is...
"One piece of advice I have for couples getting married is to not get too caught up in the details! While I'm obviously a fan of beautiful, detailed weddings, at the end of the day a wedding is about the beginning of a marriage, and I hope each bride and groom is able to relax and enjoy their night together!"--Erica
