Introducing Charleston Event Planner and Designer: Amy DeVito
Amy may sound familiar to you and that's for good reason. Amy is the very talented designer that helped Erin and I pull off this amazing jewel tone stylized wedding. From that creative collaboration has grown a friendship. Choosing each of these girls was so easy because they each are so different and yet so talented. It seems fitting to feature her as Charleston Wine & Food wraps up because it's one of her favorite events she's involved in all year.
Amy has worked in the wedding/event design industry for the past 10 years.
"I have always loved a party, any excuse to entertain, I also love food and all things 'bar'! I had been in the restaurant industry for about 8 years when I started to focus more on social events, primarily weddings. It all felt like a seamless, all be it odd group of talents I had, :). I was super lucky to work with lots of different planners and designers in New York and really sharpen my skills. I also have a dance background so when I am planning and designing a wedding I look at it like putting on a performance, a really kick ass performance filled with my couples most favorite things!"
When we started planning her feature she had two ideas: 1) popping champagne on a city street downtown or 2) drinks at the lovely bar at The Dewberry.
Amy is amazing. She is able to take a couples vision and create true beauty and art. I'd say her strength is when she finds a couple that wants a unique event...a trendsetter. She loves having a couple that will call her so excited about something perfect they found and that they already know she will love just as much. She has an ability to get in sync with her couples. Her favorite events have circled around planning things for her own close personal friends. Although, she has such a welcoming personality that I can't imagine anyone not considering themselves a friend after a brief interaction.
Amy in her personal time is a total foodie. She loves Tavern and Table and Little Jack's Tavern, but if we're being honest, you can win her heart with some raw oysters and a super cold, dirty martini. She also has the most adorable new puppy you've ever laid eyes on and if you give her the okay she'll BRING HIM TO MEETINGS!
Although Amy pulls off some of the most elegant and luxe events, she is capable of working within any budget and with varying styles. She accepts the challenge to provide her clients with everything they dream of and then some touches they didn't even know they wanted and would love.
Her biggest piece of advice to a new couple is to remember it's just a party...a really big party and she'll be there to sweat the small and big stuff.
